The Galactic Cold War Series

The Caledonian Gambit (#0.5)
“The action scenes, both on the ground and in space, show a focus on thoughtful planning and careful pacing. The characterization delves just enough into emotionality to give the characters realism without moving the focus away from fights, intrigue, and spycraft.”

Publishers Weekly

“This is a great spy story, with tidbits of science explaining the intergalactic travel and even a hint of romance to come. The reader is left wanting more background on each of the significant characters and hoping for future adventures.”

Booklist

“Dan Moren is best known as a podcaster and tech blogger, but that could soon change. This debut novel is a brisk and fun adventure with spies, family drama, and space battles, carried off with a light touch and an old-school style that’s entirely welcome in the frequently grimdark world of modern genre fiction, and a main character you won’t soon forget.”

B&N SciFi & Fantasy Blog

“THE CALEDONIAN GAMBIT is a throwback to the classic sci-fi adventures of spies and off-world politics, but filled to the brim with modern sensibilities.”

Fresh Fiction

“A wisecracking caper that nevertheless doesn’t skimp on the details and human cost of interstellar war, like John Le Carre meets The Stainless Steel Rat. Moren is one to watch.”

Antony Johnston, creator of Atomic Blonde and The Exphoria Code

“Immersive, intergalactic spy-fi. Moren gives us a Cold War thriller with wormholes and anti-grav fields.”

John August, screenwriter of Titan A.E. and Big Fish

“Hypercool. It’s like the Golden Age of sci-fi got an upgrade, with all the big honking space cannons and some desert planet dry humour thrown in for the bargain.”

John Birmingham, author of the Axis of Time trilogy

The Bayern Agenda (#1)
“Moren revisits the world and key characters from THE CALEDONIAN GAMBIT in the bombastic Galactic Cold War series launch, telling a frenzied story full of bold spycraft and exciting ground and air chases.”

Publishers Weekly

“Fast-paced, high-action space opera with a spy adventure bent […] think Star Trek meets Mission: Impossible.”

Barnes & Noble

“THE BAYERN AGENDA is an expertly written combination of science fiction and espionage thriller, filled with well-drawn characters and a story you won’t be able to stop reading.”

Reviews & Robots

“THE BAYERN AGENDA is well worth a shot, as it mixes genres, creates an interesting galactic history and focuses on a high-charged stalemate between two superpowers.”

The Fantasy Book Critic

“If you’re looking for an action thriller with some nicely executed science fiction flourishes, then look you need look no further.”

The Eloquent Page

“THE BAYERN AGENDA is a cold war-style detective story set in a science fiction universe, taking advantage of the best tropes each genre has to offer […] This space opera will be enjoyed by those who like a mixture of the light-hearted and the imminent danger.”

The British Fantasy Society

“THE BAYERN AGENDA exchanges the trench coats and fedoras for spaceships and lasers […] I can’t wait to see the sequel.”

Spy Write

“A twist-laden caper of intrigue and improv filled with dark humour and, uh, surprisingly engaging galactic economics.”

Antony Johnston, creator of Atomic Blonde and The Exphoria Code

“An action-packed thriller with a new twist in every chapter–the kind of book you don’t want to put down. THE BAYERN AGENDA reads like Mission Impossible set in space. Filled with well-rounded characters and an incredibly rich backstory, Moren brings his vision of a cold war galaxy to brilliant life.”

Michael Mammay, author of Planetside

The Aleph Extraction (#2)
“Moren’s fantastically fun second Galactic Cold War space opera [features] a frenzied, humorous, and brawl-heavy spy mission aboard a luxury starcruiser [...] Readers will end this installment deeply attached to Moren’s bold characters and eagerly anticipating what comes next.”

Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

“A witty, fast-paced thriller that doesn’t skimp on its characters, THE ALEPH EXTRACTION adds a heist-flavored spin to Moren’s clever interstellar Cold War spycraft. The result is Ocean’s Eleven in zero gravity, served up with heart and humor. Not to be missed!”

Helene Wecker, author of The Golem and the Jinni

“Moren delivers another thrill ride. Grabbed me from the first chapter and didn’t let go.”

Michael Mammay, author of Planetside

“Faster than light writing, kinetic wit, and retro-futurist Golden Age style.”

John Birmingham, author of The Cruel Stars

“Moren’s latest entry in the Galactic Cold War series, THE ALEPH EXTRACTION, ratchets up the action, tension, and wit […] the interstellar heist caper you didn’t know you needed, but not to be missed.”

Eric Scott Fischl, author of Dr. Potter’s Medicine Show

"Fresh and engaging. No one blends fun and thrill quite like Dan Moren."

Jay Posey, author of Outriders

"A brilliant heist with a dynamic cast. Everything I was looking for in a spy novel!"

Reese Hogan, author of Shrouded Loyalties

“Moren ably plays with trope and archetype to bring new life and new dimensions to the tried-and-true Heist Plot, but the best action is found around the kitchen table and other quiet places where the characters come together. Major Simon Kovalic and his covert-ops team of misfits come together at their broken places, and their bond is stronger and more realistic for it.”

RWW Greene, author of The Light Years
