ANNE MCCAFFREY

Anne McCaffrey is one of the most beloved and popular authors in the history of sf/fantasy with sales in over twenty languages. The bestselling well-reviewed collaborative works are perfect compantions to her own, as it THE DRAGON-LOVER'S GUIDE TO PERN by McCaffrey and Nye.

    THE PLANET PIRATES
  1. SASSINAK, with Elizabeth Moon
  2. DEATH OF SLEEP, with Jody Lynn Nye
  3. GENERATION WARRIORS, with Elizabeth Moon

High enjoyable...very entertaining.

Kliatt

Space adventure/opera with strong female characters and a roller coaster ride of space battles, evil pirates, empire saving, and devil may care, rules be damned attitude...if entertaining adventure is what you're looking for I'd be hard put to recommend something better.

Heliocentric Net

Fine adventures, with superb characters and plenty of excitement.

Locus

For SASSINAK

A well-written upbeat story with a strong, realistic and really likable heroine. Darn good reading, beginning to end.

Tribune Review (Greensburg, PA)

SASSINAK is a pleasure.

Washington Times

A tautly written episodid novel that tells a classic story: the birth of a hero. This is the kind of book I really like to read, non-stop action with good, strongly written, believable characters. And brother, does this story move!

SF Review

An exciting space romp complete with space pirates, mysterious alien races and a whole crop of nasty humans. SASSINAK should please Ms. McCaffrey's old fans and, perhaps, win her some new ones.

Daily News (Bowling Green, KY)

An exceedingly felicitous match, with the authors meshing their styles and areas of expertise.

Chicago Sun-Times

Brings to mind early Heinlein. Sassinak, the female protagonist, is a powerfuly and lovable creation. I'm looking forward to more of her adventures.

Rocky Mountain News

Fast paced with believable characters, and a fine start to what promises to be quite a series.

Pulsar

Well-done...Moon's nearly unsurpassed skill at realistic military sf raises the book to an even higher level. Highly recommended.

For PARTNERSHIP

Tribune Review (Greensburg, PA)

This adventure is splendidly paced and filled with lively characters. McCaffrey and Ball have created a worthy spinoff that combines the best of the original concept with its own unique voice to provide excellent entertainment.

Rave Reviews

Quite entertaining and captures the spirit of THE SHIP WHO SANG to a surprising degree.

Locus

For THE SHIP WHO SEARCHED

A perfect combination of SF, adventure and romance.

Kliatt

The best McCaffrey collaboration I've read so far ... interesting and recommended for both McCaffrey have created a marvelous love story in an exciting science fictional setting and then topped it all off with an ingeniously spiffy resolution.

Rave Reviews

For THE CITY WHO FOUGHT

McCaffrey and Stirling create vivid heroes and villains in a complex and deadly game.

Publishers Weekly

McCaffrey and Stirling have produced a book that expands the boundaries of the series to which it belongs, yet remains consistent with the cycle's overall design. Fans of both writers should be more than pleased with the results.

Dragon

Chicago Sun Times

Oodles of fun.

Locus

Bright and bubbly entertainment.

Kirkus

A light-hearted romp that is sure to be popular.

Voya

Readers will find themselves riveted by the nonstop action adventure that constantl surpasses even the most jaded reader's expectations, and by a relationship as beautiful as it is indestructible.

Affaire de Coeur

Anyone who loves a 'romance with a twist' should definitely try this work since it incorporates a sense of romance into a relationship that is pure and more fulfilling than most lover in the corporeal sense can ever find. McCaffrey and Nye not only spin a rollocking good tale but they inject a ray of hope into even the most cynical of hearts. Sit back and enjoy the reading experience of a lifetime.

The Dragon

The two blend their skills effectively to produce a brisk, well-told often amusing tale...fans of either author, or both, will have fun with this book.

Booklist

For THE SHIP AVENGED

Quite enjoyable read. The Kolnari are as utterly vile as most Sterling villans. The climax is splendidly handled, and the final denoument is quite effective.

FosFax

For THE SHIP ERRANT

Nye carried on wonderfully, with an active, exciting plot, interesting aliens and other charcters... This is fun, light sf, recommended for all collections.

Booklist

For APPLIED MYTHOLOGY

Great fun seeing how it all works out, capped by a charming conclusion.

Locus

For THE DREAMLAND

Reads a lot like Piers Anthony's Xanth series.

Kliatt

A wonderfully surreal yet utterly coherent romp ... Nye sustains a remarkable level of invention to produce a book Roald Dahl would have been proud to write.

Gahan Wilson in "Realms of Fantasy"

Nye's Dreamland is an original and clever new setting for a fantasy adventure, and she makes good use of it in this complex and insightful novel.

SF Chronicle

For THE WOLFE PACK: STRONG ARM TACTICS

An amusing but effective military SF novel. The book has something in common with the Phule's Company series but is in many ways more straightforward, better developed and not less amusing.

Booklist

For AN UNEXPECTED APPRENTICE

This world's magic has some intriguing aspects... The basic quest format is overfamiliar, but the little tweaks and twists give it enough novelty to keep it fun.

Locus

Readers will want to see what happens in the next installment.

Asimov's

This solidly entertaining tale will keep readers engaged.

Starlog

A welcome respite from the obsessions with clashing armies and evil sorcery that dominates the field, although not without doses of overt action to keep the reader awake and attentive. Tildi's character is appealing and earns out sympathies right from the outset.

This might be a great series to follow.

      6. FREE FIRE ZONE

The prolific Dockery makes another valuable contribution to the literature on the navy's special operations units, one that begins with the SEALs' five different World War II ancestors, which survived misuse, kamikazes, and sharks to shrink practically to nonexistence after the armistice. The Underwater Demolition Teams survived to play a useful role in the Korean War, whose special operations history is still emerging from a fog bank of secrecy and apathy. Finally, President Kennedy took an interest in special warfare, the navy (under the aegis of Chief of Naval Operations Arleigh Burke) chose to be a player, and the Teams (or, at least, One and Two) emerged in the face of every difficulty military professionals can face from their own services, even before they went to Vietnam to shoot and be shot at. Dockery blends oral history and conventional narrative with consummate skill, making the cook exceptionally accessible to casual readers as well as serious students. Again Dockery's efforts are likely only to enhance reader approval of the SEALs.
